SQUIRE Guidelines for Publishing QI: Where’ve we been and what’s next?

Session Description:

In this session, Dr. Ogrinc will review the origins and future of the Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence (SQUIRE) publication guidelines. SQUIRE, or a draft version, has been publicly available since 2005 with a major revision in 2015 to SQUIRE 2.0. These guidelines are different than other publication guidelines because they are about a general field of study (QI) and not focused on a specific methodology (e.g., RCTs or observational studies). SQUIRE has encouraged more and better QI reports in the peer-review literature, but how can it be better? What’s missing from SQUIRE in 2023? Might it be revised to better capture and encourage strong scholarly QI work?
