Session Description:
Attendees will be introduced to the new SQUIRE-SIM reporting guidelines which will be applicable and necessary when trying to get their simulation-based QI project published. These guidelines are also applicable and helpful when planning a simulation-based QI project to include all elements necessary for both context and reproducibility.
Speaker Biography:
Kimberly (Kim) Stone, MD (she/her) is a Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Emergency Medicine at the University of Washington and Attending Physician in the Emergency Department at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She is currently the Associate Chief for Operations and Clinical Director for Emergency Medicine and the Vice President for Medical Affairs for Seattle Children’s Hospital. She is the former Co-Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Simulation Program and the former Head of Systems Integration and Patient Safety for the Seattle Children’s Simulation Program. She is a Past-President of the International Simulation Society (IPSS) and a past Co-Chair for the International Network for Simulation-Based Pediatric Innovation, Research and Education (INSPIRE). Dr. Stone has been using simulation for interprofessional education, team training, environmental testing and design, and process improvement to improve patient safety for the past 16 years. She has led more than 40 systems-improvement projects using simulation and co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and simulation-based curricula. In 2017, Dr. Stone received the Seattle Children’s Hospital David Fisher Award for Excellence in Patient Safety.
